The $15 million, 97,000 square foot Clive M. Beck Athletic and Recreation Center opened in 2002, giving Transylvania’s entire campus community a home for recreation, fitness activities, intramurals, varsity competition and the physical education program. The competition arena on the lower level provides seating for 1,250 in fully automatic retractable seating. When the seats are rolled back, the gym floor can accommodate two basketball courts or a combination of basketball, volleyball, badminton, or other activities. A partition that lowers from the ceiling divides the floor in half. Locker rooms and a training room are also on this level. The upper level features a second two-court gym, flanked by a 4,000-square-foot fitness center and a dance/aerobics room. Batting cages are located at the far end of the gym, and an elevated walking/jogging track encircles the gym. The Beck Center has four regulation high school courts with a separate clock for each court.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHEDULE

■ Team overnight camp for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (min. of 8 per team)

■ Registration: 11 AM - 1 PM

■ Games begin at 2 PM

■ Day 1: Two 36 min games

■ Day 2: Three 36 min games

■ Day 3: Single Elimination/Overtime Tournament

■ Camp will finish by 1:00 PM

■ Cost: CHECKS ONLY (payable to Varel Camps LLC)

Overnight camper (meals + housing): $195 + 6% sales tax ($11.70) = $206.70

Day camper (just games): $100 + 6% sales tax ($6.00) = $106

■ One coach per overnight team (8+ players) will be paid a coaching stipend

■ NOTE: School group payments are tax exempt. Individual payments are subject to a 6% KY HB 8 tax and must be added to the total payment ($206.70 - overnight, $106 - days only)
